Yesterday was a hectic evening for me. I rushed home from work with an itinerary set up before I would head out for my "Dr. Sketchy" event. As I opened my front door and stepped into my living room, I realized that "Step 1: Dinner" would be replaced by "Step 1: Sleep." This caused a snowball effect that led to my cramming a workout, shower, shopping, and drive into about 2 and a half hours.

I was able to half-ass my workout and portions of my shower (kidding) to make it on the road at a respectable time. My one stop before my art group was Best Buy to purchase a new Blu Ray that had come out. Sadly, the new Blu Ray was of a Superman/Batman cartoon that just came out that day (yes, I'm 30 years old).

So I hurry into Best Buy, run to the back of the store where the movies are and search for the Disc. I stood dumbfounded as every copy was sold out. Pacing up and down the isles lead to equally sold out areas which forced me to find a salesperson. The woman was very nice as I asked if there were any more copies of the Blu Ray, all the while only pointing to the empty spaces (to save myself from having to say Superman Cartoon out loud).

The girl kindly checked the computers (to no avail) and then traveled to "the back" for copies that hadn't made it to the shelf. While I stood there, counting the minutes, it dawned on me that I was actually standing there wearing a Superman shirt. This was obviously an opportunity to show my confidence in my dorkhood (or rather that it was clean and I needed a shirt). 15 minutes was beginning to be a bit long to wait, but as annoyed as I was, its not like I wasn't going to leave.

Eventually, the girl came back and told me that they were all out. I thanked her for her time and sulked my way to the exits. It was there that I saw the giant, card board kiosk with the cartoon superheroes proudly displayed. I grabbed one of the dozens of Blu Ray copies and giddily skipped back to the woman. I apologized for not seeing it 15 minutes earlier to which she replied, "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were looking for one of the special edition copies with the tiny figurine."

I assured her, "No, I'm not that big of a dork...but pretty close."

I happily left the store with my movie and drove away, victorious in my new purchase. My only problem now is...I really wish I would have gotten that figurine. It would have gone well with my 2 Green Lanterns and 1 Wonder Woman.
